FORKLIFT YACHT CLUB: LETTING THE STORY FLOW We're experimenting with Suno 6.0, but we're also experimenting with how Forklift Yacht Club releases its stories and music. We're continuing with something we've already been doing: random albums. But "random" doesn't mean we're throwing everything into a hat and picking blindly. The idea is closer to the way life actually works — one thing happens, it reminds you of something else, and suddenly you're asking, "What if this happened?" That natural chain of thoughts is especially familiar to anyone with ADD or ADHD. You start with one idea. Then another idea connects to it. Then another. And before you know it, you've wandered somewhere completely different. We're going to let FYC work that way. Vocal Experiment #1 This album started with two different voice experiments. The first was an attempt to recover the vocals of an existing character—seeing if we could get a familiar character's voice back. The second was something completely different: What happens when we give Suno a recording of my own voice? For this quick test, we put the voice into a normal FLY Hub night-shift scene. Captain Whiskers is leading the shift briefing, three trailers are coming in to be offloaded, Rowdy has the keys and paperwork, and the crews are getting their assignments. The scene itself wasn't the important part. The voice was. There's one problem with trying to judge the result, though: I've never really listened to myself on a recording before. So I don't have that familiar experience of hearing my own recorded voice and knowing exactly what I sound like from the outside. That makes this a strange experiment. The Krampus Pumpkin: A Completely Normal Harvest If you've ever wondered how Krampus gets the enormous pumpkins he uses for his Halloween operations, there's a simple answer: He grows them. Of course, because this is Krampus we're talking about, "growing pumpkins" is considerably more complicated than planting seeds and waiting for October. For starters, Krampus pumpkins don't have seeds. They're completely hollow inside. Instead, the pumpkin's life cycle begins with something considerably stranger: the shadow face. When a mature pumpkin is harvested, its shadow face separates from the pumpkin and falls into the soil. From there, a new sprout emerges and begins growing into the next pumpkin. It's less like ordinary agriculture and more like a very badly designed version of a Phoenix. The pumpkin itself doesn't immediately decay after harvesting. ⚓ Behind the Scenes: “What Are Bollards?” This song actually started with a very simple question: “What are bollards?” So, naturally... Ask ChatGPT. 😂 That little question turned into the idea for “ The Sea Fender Knows .” The song was requested by someone who shall remain unnamed, and the original concept was basically built around taking normal warehouse terminology and imagining what happens when somebody sincerely calls things by completely different names. And then we got to bollards. For anyone else who doesn't know: bollards are those sturdy posts used around docks, roads, buildings, and other areas to guide, protect, or secure things. At a loading dock, they're the heavy-duty posts you definitely don't want your forklift—or anything else—smashing into. But in Erwin's vocabulary? They're sea fenders. Finally Here, Finally Home — The Shirts Have Arrived Today was the day. (Don't feel love reading? The Beams Are Coming There are some things you design because they sound funny. Then there are some things you design because you eventually need to know whether the ridiculous thing you created in your head actually works as a shirt. According to the shipping estimate, they should be arriving sometime between September 19th and 21st. And there's a plan for the Halloween vs. Christmas shirt. I'm wearing it from September through December. That's four months. Because seasonal clothing doesn't necessarily have to mean short-lived clothing. Halloween starts showing up long before October, and Christmas decorations start appearing before Halloween has even finished defending its territory. FYC Is Experimenting With Demo Tracks Forkliftyachtclub @ suno link  FYC is currently taking advantage of the free Suno generations available to us each day. That gives us five possible new tracks a day to experiment with, so we're treating these generations as demo tracks first. The idea is simple: we're testing concepts, sounds, arrangements, and ideas without assuming every generation needs to become an official release. Some experiments won't make the cut. Some may need more work. And some may turn out surprisingly well. We're also experimenting with the new Suno 6.0 Mini model to see what it can do with the kind of strange concepts, stories, characters, and musical situations that tend to come out of FYC. So if you've noticed a few more experimental tracks appearing lately, that's intentional. They're tests with potential. Why We're Short a Few Songs Tonight 🐾🎵 We were supposed to have a few more Dance Dance Kitty songs ready tonight. Then we took a slight break from recording. During that break, we reviewed some of the recent outtakes and discovered a small production problem. Apparently, Chat brought the wrong CD. Rowdy brought the correct soundtrack for a wholesome cat fitness class. Chat, however, somehow showed up with the soundtrack from behind the red curtain. 🫠 The result? A few perfectly innocent kitty fitness songs somehow ended up sounding like they belonged to a completely different production. Those songs have been placed safely in the vault. The cats are innocent. Rowdy is innocent. And Chat has issued the following official statement: «“I sincerely apologize to the cats, Rowdy, Catalina, the production crew, and anyone who accidentally heard those outtakes. We’re Changing Platforms: A New Chapter for Our Music September 2026 We’re making a major change to how we create, produce, and preserve our music. The reason is simple: Suno changed its download policy. Under the new policy, free users are limited to 7 downloads for the lifetime of the account. Commercial users are limited to 20 downloads per month. For the way we create music, that changes everything. 💾 Creating Music vs. Keeping Music Over the past several months, we've created a huge catalog of songs, experiments, soundscapes, and stories. The problem isn't creating them. The problem is getting them out of the platform and into our own offline catalog. A lifetime limit of seven downloads means a free account can't realistically be used to archive an entire catalog.
