FORKLIFT YACHT CLUB: LETTING THE STORY FLOW

FORKLIFT YACHT CLUB: LETTING THE STORY FLOW

We're experimenting with Suno 6.0, but we're also experimenting with how Forklift Yacht Club releases its stories and music.

We're continuing with something we've already been doing: random albums.

But "random" doesn't mean we're throwing everything into a hat and picking blindly.

The idea is closer to the way life actually works — one thing happens, it reminds you of something else, and suddenly you're asking, "What if this happened?"

That natural chain of thoughts is especially familiar to anyone with ADD or ADHD.

You start with one idea.

Then another idea connects to it.

Then another.

And before you know it, you've wandered somewhere completely different.

We're going to let FYC work that way.

Instead of creating a brand-new series every time we have a new idea, we're going back to the series and worlds we've already created and continuing them.

That means the next album might not be the newest idea we came up with.

It might be the next chapter of something that already exists.

The cats might find themselves in another situation.

A previous story might suddenly lead somewhere we didn't originally plan.

A character might show up again because the last story left us wondering what happened next.

This also means you don't have to keep learning an entirely new world every time something gets released.

The worlds already exist.

The characters already exist.

Now we get to see what happens to them next.

We're thinking of it a little like old-school television.

Before entire seasons were dropped all at once, you got an episode.

Then you waited for the next one.

You didn't always know exactly what was coming next.

Maybe it continued the story you were already watching.

Maybe it took a strange detour.

Maybe something completely unexpected happened.

That's the feeling we're experimenting with.

Not a perfectly ordered master schedule.

Not constantly creating another new series.

Just following the natural flow of the ideas and letting existing stories continue when they have somewhere to go.

Suno 6.0 gives us a new tool to experiment with along the way, but the bigger experiment is the storytelling itself.

So if the next FYC release seems to come from somewhere completely different, that's intentional.

It may not be a new world.

It may just be another episode from one we've already visited.

And sometimes the best question is simply:

"What if this happened?"

Then we find out.

A NOTE ABOUT THE BLOG

Just because something gets released doesn't mean it needs a blog post.

We're going to have releases that are simply released.

Not every song needs a story explaining why it exists, and not every album needs a behind-the-scenes article.

If we wrote a blog post for everything we release, things could get confusing very quickly.

For example, if five different albums each released one song, we'd suddenly have five different things to explain in one blog post. That could turn into a very long and confusing article.

The blog is for the releases and projects that actually have something worth talking about.

Sometimes that's a new story, an experiment, a character, a world, or something happening behind the scenes.

And sometimes, there's simply a new song.

Not everything needs an explanation.

Sometimes we can just release it and see where it goes.
