A Fan Request Took a Turn
One of the requests that came in for the Knightly Purr radio tracks was pretty simple:
A Spanish song.
No specific genre.
No specific story.
Just a Spanish song.
So naturally, the cats made one.
And somehow, Claudia ended up with a semi-truck, a toolbox, and a personal grudge against rust.
For this track, the cats decide they need another band.
So they simply switch singers and introduce Claudia and the Wrenches as if they've been a completely different group all along.
Claudia is a Spanish-dominant bilingual whirlwind, and her song is essentially a love-hate relationship with truck-stop repairs.
She loves the machine when it starts.
She hates it when it doesn't.
She spends the night covered in grease, fighting with a stubborn service panel that refuses to open.
Eight bolts come out.
Then the ninth one refuses to cooperate.
Eventually Claudia discovers the problem:
It's not a bolt.
It's a rivet.
And it's supposed to be there.
The panel was designed to swing open on that riveted hinge so it wouldn't become a loose piece of metal waiting to fall on the mechanic.
Unfortunately, years of rust have turned the hinge into one solid chunk of mechanical spite.
Claudia's answer?
The torch.
And eventually...
CLANG.
The panel opens.
Victory.
❤️ Affection vs. Affliction
The song's centerpiece is Claudia's relationship with the machine:
“I treat you with affection!”
“You treat me with affliction!”
Honestly, that might be the most accurate description of truck-stop repairs we've ever put into a song.
The track is primarily in Spanish, with enough English woven in to keep the story moving for listeners who don't speak Spanish.
🇪🇸 And about that translation...
We did our best.
If something is wrong with the Spanish...
Blame Chat. 😂
Claudia has been informed.
She is currently holding a wrench.
We're giving her some space.
“Affliction” is one of the Knightly Purr radio tracks — born from a simple request for a Spanish song and somehow ending with rust, grease, a torch, and a very stubborn service-panel hinge.
Sometimes you request a song.
Sometimes you get Claudia and the Wrenches.
