Building an Album Around a Machine That Shouldn’t Exist

The sound of PARALLAX REACTOR didn’t come from a synthesizer, a pedalboard, or a plugin. It came from a machine — a rotating, multi‑string electric steel guitar built like a piece of spacecraft engineering. The entire album is inspired by the physics, harmonics, and mechanical behavior of this instrument.

At the center of the project is the rotary guitar: a cylindrical neck fitted with 18–24 strings, spun by a motor at controlled RPM. As the neck rotates, the strings sweep across the pickup field, creating harmonics that orbit, shimmer, pulse, and collide. It’s not played with frets. It’s played with a fixed steel bar, while the strings move underneath it. The result is a sound that feels less like a guitar and more like a reactor waking up.

When the motor kicks in, the instrument becomes a harmonic engine.  

Low strings generate seismic pulses.  

Mid strings smear into metallic chords.  

High strings flash like glass under pressure.  

Every RPM changes the entire harmonic structure.

This mechanical behavior became the blueprint for the album.

Each track is written like an engineering log — a phase of a reactor coming online, accelerating, stabilizing, and eventually reaching full harmonic saturation. Instead of verses and choruses, the music follows system states: warm‑up, rotation, injection, containment, activation. The rotary guitar’s physics dictate the progression.

The album’s ambient industrial sci‑fi soundscape comes directly from the machine’s behavior:

- Low RPM → sparse harmonics, long drifts, slow pulses  

- Medium RPM → overlapping metallic textures, rising resonance  

- High RPM → harmonic saturation, shimmering clouds, mechanical whine  

- Operating RPM → full reactor drone, stable harmonic field  

Every track is built around these phases.

The rotary guitar isn’t just an instrument — it’s the protagonist.  

The reactor is the stage.  

The album is the story of a machine waking up.

PARALLAX REACTOR is what happens when you treat engineering as music, machinery as composition, and harmonics as a living system. It’s a soundtrack for a reactor that doesn’t exist — except in the audio.
